My Care Languages is a visual support tool designed to help people communicate what helps them feel safe, cared for, connected and understood.

Based on the idea of love languages, this resource has been adapted through a neuroaffirming lens by AuDHD women who understand that care is not one-size-fits-all. For many neurodivergent people, feeling cared for is closely connected to clear communication, sensory safety, emotional regulation, boundaries, practical support and being accepted as they are.

The resource helps people identify what works for them across five care areas:

  • Words That Help
  • Time Together
  • Helpful Actions
  • Safe Touch
  • Thoughtful Things

It includes visual assessment pages, summary pages and portable care cards that can be completed with the person and used across home, school, therapy, community and support settings.

My Care Languages is designed for children, teens and adults who may benefit from a visual, plain-language way to share their needs, preferences and boundaries. It can be used by families, carers, educators, therapists, support workers and teams to better understand the person in front of them and offer support in a way that feels respectful, practical and affirming.

This tool is not about changing who someone is. It is about listening, understanding and supporting people in ways that feel safe, meaningful and right for them.
