Neuro-Affirming Supports

Neuro-Affirming Supports: Embrace neurodiversity with compassionate care tailored for private and NDIS clients. Our approach values acceptance, accessibility, positive reinforcement, and advocacy, drawing from influential concepts such as Collaborative Solutions and positive psychology to empower individuals to thrive. Neuro-affirming supports are available for private clients and NDIS clients.

What is Neuro-Affirming?

Have you heard of 'neurodiversity'?

It's the idea that differences in how our brains work, like Autism or ADHD, are totally natural. It says we should respect and celebrate these differences because they bring unique strengths and perspectives to our world.

And even though 'neuroaffirming' might not be a big word yet, it's all about making places that welcome and help neurodivergent people. It's like saying, 'You're awesome just as you are,' and giving the support they need. It's all about being understanding and accepting."

Our Supports

"Neuro-affirming support" means creating a caring and understanding environment for people whose brains work a bit differently. These individuals might have conditions like Autism, ADHD, or dyslexia.

This kind of support embraces the unique ways these brains function. Instead of seeing differences as problems, it sees them as special strengths and perspectives.

Here are some ways neuro-affirming support works:

  1. Acceptance and Understanding: We value neurodivergent individuals just as they are, without trying to change them.

  2. Accessibility: We make sure everyone has a fair chance in things like school or work. This might mean using special tools or creating friendly spaces.

  3. Communication and Social Skills: We respect diverse ways of talking and being social. We know that different isn't wrong.

  4. Sensory Considerations: We understand that some people are sensitive to things like noise or lights. We make spaces more comfortable for them.

  5. Positive Reinforcement: We focus on what individuals are good at, not what they struggle with.

  6. Advocacy: We help people speak up for themselves and their needs.

Our approach is influenced by these important ideas:

- Dr Ross Greene's "Collaborative and Pro-Active Solutions" and his belief that we do well when we can.
- Mona Delahooke's "Beyond Behaviors" and her focus on safety over just looking at behavior.
- Martin Seligman's positive psychology, which is all about building a great life.
- Carol Dweck's growth mindset, which helps people stay motivated.
- Dr Daniel Siegal's brain-based approach to balance and regulation.
- Kelly Mahler's work on understanding ourselves to feel better.

let's create an inclusive and accommodating environment for neurodivergent individuals; let's embrace their differences
neurodivergent individuals have unique strengths and perspectives which can contribute positively to society
